NAIROBI. Football fans will pay approximately UGX80,000 for the cheapest ticket to January’s Bayern Munich–Ajax friendly in Nairobi, with buyers urged to use the official website.

Tickets for Bayern Munich’s friendly against Ajax at Nairobi’s Raila Odinga International Stadium will start at Ksh2,500, approximately Shs80,000.

The January 5, 2027 encounter will officially inaugurate the stadium at Talanta Sports City, giving East African supporters an opportunity to watch the European clubs closer to home.

In a statement issued on November 5, Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya announced that ticket sales would begin at 6pm East Africa Time.

Tickets will be available exclusively through TalantaSportsCity.com, with seats released in phases across several categories.

Other seating categories, skyboxes and premium hospitality packages will be available, although their prices were not disclosed in the ministry’s statement.

Beware of a similar website

Supporters have been advised to carefully check the address before making payments, particularly because of the similarly named talantasportcity.com, which omits the “s” in “Sports”.

The ministry’s statement identifies TalantaSportsCity.com, with “Sports” in the plural, as the exclusive official ticket outlet.

“We further urge all supporters to purchase tickets exclusively through official channels and make payments only to verified accounts to avoid fraudulent transactions,” Mvurya said.

Buyers should follow the official link and verify payment details before completing any transaction.

Mvurya also warned that ticket categories selling out might remain unavailable during subsequent sales windows.

Skyboxes and premium hospitality packages will be offered, although their prices were not disclosed.

First-team commitments

The Kenyan government says both clubs have provided written commitments to field their strongest possible first-team line-ups for the encounter.

“Let me be absolutely clear: this will not be a legends match or an academy-team exhibition,” Mvurya said.

The statement did not name travelling players or provide squad lists for either club.

Organisers also plan a 12-hour fan festival, entertainment featuring international artists and activities celebrating Kenya’s sporting heroes.

Mvurya said the encounter was fully funded through private-sector support, describing corporate involvement as evidence of confidence in Kenya’s sports industry.

Afcon test run

Beyond the attraction of Bayern and Ajax, the fixture will test Kenya’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kenya will co-host the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania, making the Nairobi event relevant to the wider region’s readiness.

Mvurya has directed Kenya’s Afcon local organising committee to lead preparations alongside government agencies, sports stakeholders and private-sector partners.

The match will test stadium operations, security, transport, hospitality and crowd management under international match conditions.

For Ugandan supporters planning the trip, the Shs80,000 starting price covers admission, with transport, accommodation and other expenses requiring separate budgets.
