Al Ahly are expected to arrive in Uganda on Wednesday morning ahead of Saturday’s Caf Confederation Cup meeting with Kitara at Hoima City Stadium.
The Egyptian delegation is scheduled to land at Entebbe International Airport aboard a private EgyptAir aircraft before continuing to Hoima by road.
Their planned route runs through Masindi, avoiding the Kampala-Hoima highway, where renovation works are underway ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Uganda will co-host the tournament with Kenya and Tanzania, with Hoima City Stadium among the venues being prepared for the competition.
Al Ahly are expected to stay at Mica Resort in Hoima while completing preparations for the second preliminary round first leg.
Kitara ready for the challenge
The visitors received a bye from the first preliminary round and will begin their continental campaign against the Ugandan representatives.
Kitara progressed after eliminating Somalia’s Mogadishu City 4-1 on aggregate, winning 2-1 and 2-0 at Hoima City Stadium.
Coach Wasswa Bbosa says his players are physically ready for the encounter and focused on producing a positive home result.
“Our players are all fit and injury-free, and we want to keep it that way,” Bbosa said.
“We respect Al Ahly, but that should not stop us from putting up a strong performance and getting a positive result.”
The Egyptian side’s anticipated arrival gives them several days in Uganda before Saturday’s 4pm kick-off.
Kitara will seek an advantage before travelling for the return leg in Cairo on October 24, with group-stage qualification at stake.
Ordinary tickets cost Shs20,000, while VIP admission is Shs100,000.
The fixture brings another major continental occasion as Kitara attempt to extend their African campaign against experienced opposition.
