CAIRO. Kawempe Muslim Ladies midfielder Namutebi Kruthum has promised supporters a determined push for victory against Mali’s USFAS Bamako on Sunday.

The Ugandan champions face the Malian side in their final Group B fixture at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, with their semi-final hopes at stake.

Kawempe opened their maiden continental campaign with a historic 3-2 victory over defending champions AS FAR Rabat before losing 2-1 to Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

That setback increased the importance of Sunday’s encounter, as Kawempe seek a response that could keep their knockout ambitions alive.

Kruthum believes the players and technical team have prepared adequately for the challenge and says the squad is determined to deliver.

“We are very well prepared as we get ready for our last group-stage match tomorrow. We need to win, and we promise our fans a victory so that we can go to the next stage.

“We are going to work together as a team because, as players, we are well prepared, and our coaches have also prepared us well,” Kruthum said.

Her emphasis on teamwork underlines Kawempe’s approach to a fixture that will demand discipline and concentration alongside their attacking ambition.

The victory over AS FAR demonstrated their ability to challenge established continental opponents, but defeat to Ampem Darkoa left them needing another strong performance.

Against USFAS Bamako, Kawempe will seek to translate that confidence into a result that extends their debut campaign beyond the group stage.
