Kitara FC have introduced Shs15,000 Early Bird tickets as the club targets another sizeable crowd for Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Mogadishu City Club.
Club president Deo Kasozi launched ticket sales on Tuesday, four days before Kitara attempt to protect their 2-1 first-leg advantage at Hoima City Stadium.
However, supporters can purchase ordinary tickets for Shs15,000 between 7am and 1pm on Wednesday, with the offer available physically at Kitara’s two offices.
The six-hour promotion represents a 25 percent discount as Kitara attempt to mobilise supporters following the impressive attendance recorded during Sunday’s opening encounter.
Kasozi revealed that Kitara sold 15,061 tickets across ordinary and VIP categories after CAF permitted 17,000 spectators into Hoima City Stadium.
“We applaud the fans who came to watch the first-leg game against Mogadishu City Council during our away game,” Kasozi said.
“This Saturday, as we host the return leg, I call upon more fans to come in big numbers as we target progress to the next round.”
Despite playing both matches in Hoima, Kitara were officially the away team during Sunday’s opening leg because Mogadishu were designated hosts.
The Royals recovered from Akram Khamis Ilyaas’ opener through two Jimmy Kalema goals, establishing a slender advantage before Saturday’s decisive encounter.
Hoima support becoming Kitara weapon
Playing continental football in Hoima represents a significant change from Kitara’s previous African campaign, when circumstances forced the club to stage home matches outside Uganda.
The first leg consequently provided supporters in Bunyoro their first opportunity to watch Kitara compete in a continental fixture within their own region.
Kasozi believes maintaining that support could become important as Kitara attempt to progress beyond Mogadishu and extend their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
“This is the first time we are hosting a competitive CAF game in Uganda. Kitara Football Club is on track to qualify,” Kasozi said.
“We expect good results. I am only asking for support for fans to come for the home game this Saturday.”
Kitara need to avoid defeat to guarantee progression, while a one-goal Mogadishu victory could send the contest towards additional deciding procedures depending on the scoreline.
Victory would take Kitara into the next round, where Egyptian giants Al Ahly await the winner of the preliminary-round contest.
