The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally delivered more than motorsport action in Gulu, with organisers extending their activities to support persons with disabilities.

Central Motor Club (CMC) donated essential household supplies to the Gulu Disabled Person’s Union, honouring the charitable legacy of its former patron, Rajiv Ruparelia.

The donation took place on Friday, October 9, during Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations and the sixth round of the 2026 KCB National Rally Championship.

The initiative brought together club officials, rally drivers, members and well-wishers in a gesture aimed at supporting vulnerable communities.

According to the club’s donation acknowledgement, the activity reflected Ruparelia’s commitment to charitable causes and his belief in supporting communities.

“Rajiv had a big heart for charity and we would like to uphold it in his memory,” the club stated.

The donation included 250kg of sugar, 100kg of rice and 500kg of maize flour, alongside milk powder, silverfish and washing soap.

Other supplies included cooking oil, salt, biscuits, soft drinks and sanitary pads, providing essential household items to the beneficiaries.

CMC management, trustees, executive members, ordinary members and well-wishers contributed towards the initiative, with rally drivers participating in the delivery.

The club explained that supporting local communities forms part of its broader responsibility whenever it organises motorsport competitions.

For the Gulu Disabled Person’s Union, the donation represented an opportunity to benefit directly from an event traditionally associated with competitive motorsport.

The charity activity also highlighted how sporting competitions can extend their influence beyond entertainment, creating opportunities for community engagement and social inclusion.

Beyond the rally stages

The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally took place in Gulu from October 8 to 10 as the sixth round of the National Rally Championship.

Beyond the competition, organisers used the occasion to recognise Ruparelia’s contribution to Ugandan motorsport and preserve his charitable legacy.

The initiative demonstrated how motorsport clubs can strengthen relationships with host communities through activities that address local needs.

For Central Motor Club, the donation also reinforced its commitment to ensuring that rally events leave a positive impact beyond the competition stages.

By involving drivers, officials and supporters, the organisers connected the excitement of rallying with a wider responsibility towards community welfare.

The Gulu charity initiative provided another dimension to the memorial rally, ensuring that Ruparelia’s name remained associated with generosity and community support.

While the competition celebrated his association with Ugandan motorsport, the donation carried forward the charitable values that Central Motor Club says defined his legacy.
